During his one year residency at Galveston Island, Davide Savorani has decided to explore the place relying on a book of memoirs and anecdotes written by one of the islanders: Pioneers of West Galveston Island by Roberta Marie Christensen.
Behaving like an unskilled and stubborn detective, Christensen dug holes with archeologists, trespassed properties and went searching for long time residents, collecting an important series of proofs and testimonies in order to reorganize the genealogical tree of Galveston, which past is both charming and dramatic.
The sentence, which refers the title of the installation, is one of the many directions Christensen gave herself during those adventurous researches. The artist borrows the direction creating a mise en scène composed of three printed curtains and a mask in search of a performer.
