SOMA-SOMA / 2010
site-specifc performance, FormContent, London
SOMA-SOMA refers to the use of the head as support to transport goods of various kinds, a use which is still present in different cultures. In this case the shape of the mask suggests a reversal of the weight, a fall of the structure. Form Content becomes only the place where the object is assembled. When the work is done, the performer leaves the exhibition space and the audience, to perform and disappear into the crowd of shoppers and traders who populate the market near Ridley Road.
